Woolen/Crochet Bag

In this blog , I am going to show you and giving you the instruction for Woolen/Crochet Shell Crossbody Bag. "Shell" is the type of style used in Crossbody bag.

Materials Required
  • Woolen thread (choose your own color)
  • Crochet Hook(Size:4mm)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle/Sewing needle (drawstring pouch)
  • Button
  • Stitch marker (it is just to remember the place)/safety pins
First Part for making two circles(Instruction)
First , you want to make a magic circle , Chain 2
Magic Circle
  • Make 12dc "double crochet" into/around the magic circle/ring(Do you find any gaps after doing 12dc and pull woolen/yarn tail(thread) to form a circle).Skip chain 2,Slip stitch into the very first dc.(Step-1 as round 1).
  • Chain 2, 2dc in the same space and in each stiches around(total of 24 dc).Slip stitch into the very first dc.(Step-2 as round 2).
  • Chain 2, 2dc in the same space and 1dc in next space. Then, repeat (2dc, 1dc around). Totally , you will get 36 dc. Slip stitch into the very first dc.(Step-3 as round 3).
  • Chain 2, 1dc in the same space , in next space(1dc) and 2dc in next space. Repeat 1dc in each of the next 2 spaces , 2dc in next(total of 48dc).Slip stitch in the first dc.(Step 4 as round 4).
  • Chain 2, 2dc in the same space , 1dc in each of next 3 spaces. Repeat 2dc , 1dc in each of next 3 spaces around (total of 60dc).Slip stitch in the first dc.(Step 5 as round 5).
  • Chain 2, 1dc in each of next 4 spaces , 2dc in next space. Repeat 1dc each of next 4 spaces ,then 2dc in next around (total of 72 dc).Slip stitch in the first dc and cut.(Step 6 as  it is last round 6).
Circle

This will be (circle 1) you need to make one more of this but do not cut circle 2(for circle 2  also same procedure from circle 1) (end) because we will connect circle 1 using circle 2.

Second Part is connecting two circles
  • After you made 2nd circle ,continue making chain 16 in circle 2
  • In circle 1, Starting from slip stitch , you want to count 11 then place the stitch marker into the 12th stitch.
  • Place both circles back to back.
  • Take your circle 2 ,get the crochet hook inside the chain 16 and continually get your hook inside in the stitch marker in the circle 1 then make slip stitch (Remove the stitch maker as you done in this process) and slip stitch again in the next space next make chain 1 , and continue(in circle 2 you have 16 chains) you want to make 1hdc"half double crochet" in each chain spaces across(total of 16hdc).
  • If you completed your 16hdc that will end in circle 2 then make the slip stitch in the next space and again make the slip stitch in the next space , Chain 1 , flip (circle 2).You want to make 1hdc"half double crochet" in each chain spaces across(total of 16hdc) that will end in circle 1.
  • Slip stitch in the next space and again make the slip stitch in the next space , Chain 1 , flip (circle 1).Continue ,  making this until you have a total of 50 rows (desired rows).
Connected two circles("Shell" Style)
  • Once you , reach the 50th row(how much rows you made) then you want to cut the thread(just leave the thread little bit for later use).
  • Optional point for your understanding . In Circle 1 will be front of the bag , you should have a total of  21dc left for both circles , slip stitch  in circle 1 is the center.
Third part to add Button
Take Circle 1 , Add Button in the center of the circle(1).
Using sewing needle/yarn needle to add the button.
Button

Fourth part : Lock Part of the bag
Make a slip knot
Just follow the procedure for Slip Knot shown in image
Thread , set the thread in hook , Just Flip the knot with hook , you get a chain
  • Then , continue to make chain 20.1dc in the 3rd chain(18th chain) from the hook (20th chain) and in each spaces across ( chain 2 as(20,19 chain) does not count as a stitch) total of 18dc.
  • Chain 5(gap for fixing button) , 1dc in each spaces on the opposite side (total of 36dc).
  • Chain 2 , Flip , 1dc in each spaces until you reach chain 5 (button gap) space. Make 10dc in the chain 5 space , 1dc in each spaces on the opposite side.
  • Chain 1 , 2dc in each row spaces at the bottom part (include center space) chain 1 ,cut , leave long yarn/woolen tail(thread).
Lock Part

Fifth Part : Attaching lock part to circle:
Understanding
  • In Circle 1 will be front of the bag , you should have a total of  21dc(sc) left for both circles , slip stitch  in circle 1 is the center.
  • You should have total of 11 spaces(9sc(single crochet) & 2chains) in circle 2.You going to attach the lock part to circle 2(in back side).
Connecting
  • Take a yarn/woolen thread into the sewing/yarn needle .(In lock part last chain is chain1) Connect this woolen thread into nearest dc.
  • You will add this lock part at the back of the bag.
  • Turn back the circle(2) , Start to count from the left side , count 6 spaces then insert needle in the space below 6th space. Do not include slip stitch. Sew all 11 spaces across , including chain space in both ends(sew excess thread at the back , cut).

Attached lock part

Sixth Part : Making Strap Part
To hold the bag at Crossbody

First part
  • Leave a long yarn /woolen thread , make a slip knot and do chain 3.
  • Insert the hook in 2nd chain from the hook , pull up a loop, and a insert the hook in 1st chain from the hook , pull up a loop. Finally you have 3 loops .Pull (through only) the first loop only and then pull through in next(every) 2 loops.
  • Insert hook in each front loop(you can see the space) pull up a loop ,  insert the hook in nearest place(space) loop from the hook , pull up a loop .You have 3 loops .Pull through in the first loop only  and then pull through in every 2 loops.

Second part will continue this method till end
  • Repeat this same method until you reach your desired length(100/150 cm) . Final chain 1 to secure , leave a long thread to cut.
